Our Staff


Harry Choin - Woodwinds Repair/Woodwind specialist - Owner


Harry recently completed his enlistment in the United States Army. He has a strong passion for music and plays as much as he can.  While he was in the United States Army, he was an Army Bandsman. Harry played in all kinds of ensembles including the jazz band, rock band, ceremonial band, and the woodwind quintet playing clarinet, flute, saxophone, and piano. His primary instrument is clarinet. Now he really enjoys playing in  community bands, and orchestras, throughout the Chicago area. His goal is to get quality instruments at an affordable cost to all musicians. In his free time he enjoys working on old cars and hanging out with the family. 



Phil McBride - Brass Repair Technician 

Phil has been repairing both woodwind and brass instruments since 1963. He has a passion for repair and provides the highest quality craftsmanship in every job he does. In his free time Phil enjoys his family time, flying planes, and just recently skydiving. 




Jimmy Zucker - Saxophone and Low Reeds Specialist 


Jimmy Zucker has been involved with music for almost all of his life. Jimmy was introduced to the music world at the age of 9 when he got started in orchestra on the cello. After a few years on cello he moved over to the band world at the age of 11 he started playing clarinet. At the age of 13 he picked up the saxophone. In high school Jimmy studied clarinet with Dr. Greg Barrett at Northern Illinois University and Saxophone with Doug Stone. Jimmy was selected to play both at the district level and state level for the IMEA competition. Upon graduating high school Jimmy was awarded the  Marine Band’s Semper Fidelis for musical excellence in 2009. Jimmy went on to study the arts at Kishwaukee Community College where he graduated with an associates degree in arts. Jimmy transferred to Northern Illinois University where he continued to study music with Dr. Greg Barrett and Dr. Ronnie Wooten. Jimmy has played with all kinds of ensembles including the NIU Community School orchestra and jazz band, DeKalb Municipal Band, Stagecoach Players,  Jazz in Progress, The Licorice Sticks Clarinet Orchestra, The Northern Illinois Chamber Orchestra, and the Jimmy Zucker Trio. When he isn’t musicking Jimmy coaches speech and debate at DeKalb High School, loves to cook, and collects and plays different kinds of board games.


Joel Dorsett

High Brass Specialist 


Joel Dorsett is the high brass expert, with over 15 years of trumpet playing experience. After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Trumpet Performance from Morningside College, he enlisted in the United States Army as a Trumpet Player and Bugler, and has over four years of professional experience performing in the United States and abroad.


Adam Brown - Low Brass Specialist 


Adam is an elementary music teacher and private brass instructor. He plays with the McHenry City Band, Wheaton Municipal band, Project Two and Matt Bishop's Super Band. In his free time he enjoys skiing and the Legend of Zelda.
